Opened in 2021, Na Travessa Suites is a beautifully small & quiet hotel which has been renovated from a former mid-19th century foundry by owners Mariana & Pedro. With only 8 rooms, this is a space for those who appreciate urban & elevated environments where classic Porto brutalism meets modern, functional design. Beautiful clean lines & soft hues & shades delicately compliment architecture by Luís Sobral of Depa Architects.
It is increasingly rare to find independent, personal spaces to stay in Porto which is one of Portugal’s most popular cities to visit, but Na Travessa is an exception. Mariana and Pedro’s eye is everywhere, from the architecture books which fill the shelves, to the breakfast served each morning in the garden conservatory. Mariana will give you tips for more local neighbourhoods too, including those secret vintage spots and natural wine bars.
Located between the Porto Cathedral & the tile-clad São Bento Station, the space sits on a hill in the historic centre. Views from the garden rooms look out onto sweeping views of the city; views that are so intoxicating, it will take you a few hours to even leave your room while you drink them in before heading out for a glass of Port.

The Neighbourhood: You won’t get more central than this, with São Bento Station, the Cathedral, Clerigos tower & the Luís I Bridge. Shop at La Paz Menswear & stroll across the river at sunset before dinner at one of our favourite spots in Porto, a tiny hole in the wall serving delicious traditional dishes in a contemporary setting, Taberna dos Mercadores.
Things to Know: Due to its central location, parking can be tricky but there are a couple of parking lots close to the bridge.
