Pa.te.os

MELIDES / HOME / TRIED & TESTED

Silence. Calm. Open spaces. These are the new luxuries. In this turbulent era of disruption and noise, it has become ever more crucial to disconnect and slow down. Step forward Pa.te.os, a new home-to-hotel concept designed in collaboration with Aires Mateus, set on a high hill amongst 200 acres of cork and pine forest. Each of four dwellings embody this new rhythm, allowing guests to get off the grid and reconnect to the essentials, surrounded by raw, pristine nature.

Private terraces, dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows and al fresco showers embrace a strong sense of space and are graced with sweeping views towards the Atlantic ocean which is just ten minutes away. Spaces allure to outdoor living and design-led fireplaces draw cosy nights in as the evenings transcend into darkness. These are houses for all seasons and with soft opening underway there's no time like the present.

The Neighbourhood: The house is located in the peaceful region of Comporta characterised by rural towns, wild Atlantic beaches & a raw rugged landscape: vineyards, rice fields & pine forests tumble down hillsides, while the ocean is a constant uninterrupted smudge on the horizon.

Things to know: Be aware too that Comporta is quite seasonal, so outside of the summer months, some restaurants close. That being said, October & Spring are our favourite times to visit without the crowds. As the house is next to the rice paddies, unlike the rest of the year, July – August is a critical time for mosquitoes in Comporta. They go out all over the region when the sun goes down.
