A family estate dating back to 1758, Terra Rosa is located in the Minho region of northern Portugal, near Viana do Castelo. Revived by father-daughter duo Francisco Rosa & his daughter Eliana, the property was bought from the Viscounts of Venade in 1948 by Francisco’s parents & is made up of seventy hectares of vineyards, beautiful traditional houses, a large granary & even a small chapel. Stay in one of seven rooms in four main houses on the estate (each featuring cosy bathrooms) that lead to a common courtyard & manor house.
Eliana’s tasteful & personal touches can be found everywhere, from the choice of the wood used in the house to the furniture & objects from various corners of the world, collected on her travels. Dip into the heated outdoor swimming pool in winter, or in the summer, fall back into one of the ancient stone tanks dotted around the property or cool off with a wild swim in the river nearby. Spend your days walking around the grounds, horseriding, winetasting & taking picnics before settling into the sitting room by the burning log fire.

The Neighbourhood: Portugal’s Northern beaches are a moment away, as is the oldest village in Portugal, Ponte de Lima. Closeby too are the gargantuan mountains of the Géres National Park, for those who want to do some serious hiking & soul searching amongst nature’s beauty.
