Pink House

Belonging to the same family for six generations, The Pink House is an old barn surrounded by gardens & orchards, carefully rebuilt in 2017 & adapted into two contemporary guest houses. One for those who like to tick off architecturally exquisite spaces on their travels, Mezzo Atelier played part in the renovation which has been critically praised for its contemporary specs.
Inside, the house is spacious & wide open plan living spaces are spread over two floors. Interiors heavily involved local artisans which were gathered to create custom-made furniture & objects, allowing the rural & timeless character of the pre-existing barn to shine through. Accommodating up to seven people in the main house, a separate ‘studio’ is for those not needing the space for family & friends, offering a private terrace with outdoor furniture to soak in the green gardens, flora & fauna.

Location: São Miguel Island, Azores.
Price: The main house starts at 200€ per night while the studio starts at 84€ per night in the low season.
Sleeps: Seven people in the main house and two in the annexe. The houses can be rented separately or together to accommodate group sizes.
Highlights: The colour of the building will make for some bright & curious photography & its proximity to the culinary and social delights of Fajã de Baixo mean that the house is less isolated than some of the other Azores Design Escapes dwellings.

The Pink House is located on São Miguel Island, one of the Azores’ nine Atlantic islands, only a two-hour flight from Lisbon. Fly to São Miguel Island & use the ferry system to island-hop while you’re there.
