Cabana Azul

CAPARICA / HOTEL / TRIED & TESTED

If there were ever a time for a simply stylish beach cabin hideaway, this would be it. This perfectly stripped back seaside escape on Lisbon’s Costa da Caparica offers everything guests may need to recalibrate at the hands of mother nature; from proximity to lapping waters & spacious stretches of sand to windows that are portals to the sun & much-needed vitamin D. A rough diamond in the soft sands of the Atlantic coast, Cabana Azul is a cloak of quiet amongst a soothing mellé of neutral, soft, textural & blankety interiors that provides its own kind of therapy.

Fitting for a weekend beach getaway or an urban escape, the cabin is just a twenty-minute drive away from Lisbon, where eight guests can swap sweeping cityscapes for sunset views & the sound of waves. Surfers & fishermen make up the predominant community here, so join in with their escapades & live like a local. The daily catch is brought to shore each morning, perfect for grilling up on the terrace & tucking in under the sun, moon or candlelight. Inside, a soothing palette of whites, creams & rustic rattans feel like they were swiped straight out the pages of a beach read, while the spacious living room's sliding doors open right out onto the ocean-side of the house, expanding the story to let the sand, sea & sky indoors.

The beach bar next door, whilst not as swanky or well known as the ones down at Praia da Princesa, will mean it’s a struggle to pull yourself anywhere else…The surf school next to the house is also a must.

Things to know: Caparica can be quite seasonal in terms of what is open, so if you want to enjoy it to the full, choose the summer to visit & enjoy long summer nights on the deck & sunny weather on the beach. Visiting in the winter months. however, can be magical for those looking to switch off in total isolation.
